After months of research and planning, St . Joseph Hospital embarked on a new five-year strategic journey on July 1, 2008. Our strategic goals align with and enliven our values: Dignity. Service. Excellence. Justice. While the hospital's strategic goals initially flowed from the St. Joseph Health System (the hospital's parent company), the hospital took time to talk through each goal, solicit feedback from various stakeholder groups and truly define what each goal meant to St. Joseph Hospital.
“We had a lot of questions,” remembers Larry K. Ainsworth, president and chief executive officer for St. Joseph Hospital. “To help us find the answers and ultimately shape the hospital’s strategic direction for the next five years, we turned to more than 450 Sisters, employees, physicians, volunteers, board members, community members and key businesses leaders.”
During a three-month time span the hospital held meetings with these key stakeholder groups to solicit feedback, listen to concerns and explore ideas and options. “This is the first time in our history that so many stakeholders were involved in shaping our strategic direction,” says Ainsworth. “It was an extremely valuable experience, and a very unique process for a hospital to embrace.”
With the input of more than 450 key stakeholders, St. Joseph Hospital defined its five-year strategic journey, which forms the foundation for our commitment to each patient we serve:
- Perfect Care: Every patient will receive the right care, at the right time, in the right setting.
- Sacred Encounters: We believe in the dignity of each individual and desire to serve each person. We will first seek to understand then deliver a combination of compassion, respect and competency to each individual we serve (patients, physicians, caregivers, staff, etc.)
- Healthiest Communities: To improve the health status of all residents in the areas we serve.
- Growth: To expand our service into the community.
