The St. Joseph Hospital Clinical Laboratory is composed of numerous discipline-specific laboratories, which serve St. Joseph Hospital and Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). The Clinical Laboratory is composed of Hematology; Special Hematology with Flow Cytometry; Clinical Chemistry and Immunology; Microbiology, which includes a full-service Virology lab as well as Mycology and Mycobacteriology Laboratories; a Transfusion Service (Blood Bank) and Blood Donor Center; Cytology; Histology; Anatomic Pathology; and Point of Care Testing.
The Clinical Laboratory staff provides services to the patients of St. Joseph Hospital and CHOC, including their cancer programs, the transplantation program and the Emergency Department (ED), which is one of the largest in the state. The Clinical Lab also operates a satellite lab within the ED. In addition, we have an Outpatient Laboratory in the St. Joseph Hospital Outpatient Pavilion, which supports the Outpatient Surgery Center and the Cardiology program.
