DEPRESSION SUPPORT for WOMEN

An ongoing support group for any woman who has been diagnosed with or struggles with depression.  Learn about yourself and the hand-on tools to manage this disease as a woman in this confidential support group.  Includes information and helpful strategies as well as benefits of mutual support.
TUESDAYS, 12:15 - 1:15  pm
Facilitator: Cigdem Coyle, PsyD
Group now in session.  Participants may join on the first Tuesday of each month.  Please call regarding seat availability. 
Fee:  $10 per session

DYNAMIC GROUP THERAPY for ANXIETY DISORDERS
Have you ever been told that there is no medical reason for your symptoms and that you may suffer with an Anxiety disorder?  Do you experience fears, phobias, obsessive or compulsive thoughts, excessive worry, frequent nervousness, thoughts and feelings of impending doom or failure, or negative self-talk?  This program is aimed at alleviating these symptoms and helping you reach a higher level of satisfaction in life.
CURRENTLY ON MONDAYS, 4:30 - 5:30 pm as five-week sessions
Fee: $10 per session
FALL 2008: WEDNESDAYS, 6:30 - 7:45 pm
Fee: $90 for six weeks

FAMILY & RELATIONSHIP SERIES - SAVE THE DATE!

MANAGING THE ANGER
Do you find yourself constantly stressed out and uptight?  Angry at traffic?  Yelling at others?  If these issues sound familiar to you, they also affect your family.  Information is the first line of defense.  Join us for this 90-minute workshop to help you understand the cycle of anger.  Manage your anger with reliable strategies, learn about boundaries and when to seek help, and prevent the anger problem through active communication.

REDUCING THE STRESS: BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE TECHNIQUES
Healthcare professionals have recognized that certain physical conditions or illnesses link with psychological components, and have found psychological approaches useful in improving a range of problems such as medical compliance or coping with pain.  This lecture will provide an overview of user-friendly psychological techniques, such as visualization, thermal feedback, and relaxation, which can alleviate or even remove the symptoms of chronic medical conditions.

PACE Program for Seniors
This twelve-week supportive counseling program is for seniors 65 and older living in Orange County.  The initial session is with a licensed clinical social worker, and thereafter a trained volunteer meets with you in your home weekly, using active listening and problem-solving to facilitate movement toward personal goals.  Visits are made during business hours, and sessions are confidential.  Waiting list may apply.
Fee: $75 for initial assessment

PACE VOLUNTEER TRAINING: SUPPORTIVE COUNSELING
A ten-hour interactive course on aging, communication skills and working through special problems of older adults.  This training will prepare participants to volunteer as PACE Volunteer Counselors. Fee $50  (Scholarships are available)

COUNSELING PROGRAM
Professional therapists, pre-licensed and graduate student interns work with any adult 18 and older with a desire to engage in counseling.  All sessions are available at a sliding scale fee.  Call St. Joseph Hospital Community Counseling for more information at (714) 771-8243.

DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP
Informational presentations and group discussion for individuals with Diabetes.  No charge.

A support group for those with Parkinson’s disease and  family members.  Includes presentations and resource referral related to Parkinson’s disease.  No charge.
