For patients who would benefit from 24-hour nursing care and behavioral supervision, St. Joseph Hospital Behavioral Health Services offers an inpatient unit, which is often referred to as the Rush Center. The program provides a full range of psychiatric services, with 10 secure and 26 semi-secure beds. Upon admission, patients are carefully evaluated by a multidisciplinary team to determine medical and psychosocial status. Treatment includes medical supervision and medication management by a psychiatrist, as well as patient education about their psychiatric and/or substance dependence. Individual, group, and family therapy is also available. To help ensure a smooth transition back home, the program offers comprehensive aftercare planning, with referrals to the appropriate community services.
