The St. Joseph Hospital Blood Donor Center's mission is: To serve the needs of our community.
Fewer than 5% of healthy Americans who are eligible to donate blood actually donate, yet the need for blood and blood components continues to increase. Employees of St. Joseph Hospital and blood donors from the community may volunteer to donate blood to help support and maintain the general blood supply used by patients at both St. Joseph Hospital and Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). |

Give the Gift of Life The need for blood is great. Every year, more than 29 million units of blood components are needed nationwide. Blood transfusions often are needed for trauma victims, heart surgery, organ transplants, and patients receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer or other diseases such as sickle cell disease and thalassemia. |
