Endoscopy services enable physicians to examine the body's passageways using an endoscope. This scope has a tiny camera attached to a long, thin and flexible tube that moves through the body. Depending on the region of your body being examined, the endoscope may be inserted through an opening in the mouth, anus or urethra. In some cases, the enscope may be inserted through a small incision in the skin.
The Endoscopy Center provides holistic treatment for patients of St. Joseph Hospital and Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) needing endoscopic procedures of the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracks. Along with providing patients and their families with clinical excellence, we strive for a comfortable, healing environment, enhanced through such items as a warm blanket, music or aromatherapy.

St. Joseph Hospital's Endoscopy Center is equipped and trained to perform the latest endoscopy procedures. The variety of procedures available include:
- Colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy - large intestine
- Cystoscopy and ureteroscopy - urinary system
- Laparoscopy - abdomen or pelvis
- Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy - esophagus and stomach

The Endoscopy Center is comprised of two units:
- Hospital based
Two fulled equipped procedure rooms serving inpatients and outpatients, infant to older adults
- Outpatient Pavilion based
Four fully equipped procedure rooms to serve adult outpatients and 13 recovery rooms
The Endoscopy Center is located on the third floor of the Outpatient Pavilion at 1140 W. La Veta Ave., directly across from St. Joseph Hospital. Our hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
