
Each year for the past 78 years, more babies have been delivered at St. Joseph Hospital than any other hospital in the county. Last year alone, we welcomed more than 5,000 newborns.

St. Joseph Hospital Obstetrics team members are sensitive to the needs of the entire family, respect your family’s uniqueness, and value your family as important members of the health care team. We encourage bonding of your family with your newborn, and welcome participation of siblings and other family members. This family-centered approach to care is evident throughout a comprehensive array of services:
- Tours given semi-monthly of the Labor & Delivery area, Nursery and Mother-Baby Unit
- A variety of workshops and classes to prepare for a healthy and enjoyable birth
- Labor, Delivery & Recovery Suites, equipped with state of the art medical technology
- Couplet care on the Mother-Baby Unit, whereby the nurses cares for both the mother and baby staying together
- Maternal Fetal Testing Center to monitor expectant mothers who may be at risk of early delivery or other complications
- Bridges for Newborns, linking families to assistance programs that improve the health and welfare of children in Orange County
- Partnership with Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), our neighbor, for the highest level of neonatal care for infants requiring special medical attention
- Stork Stop Boutique, offering gift items for the new mother and baby
- Follow-up care within one week of delivery by obstetrical nurses to ensure both mother and baby are thriving.
