St. Joseph Hospital's Pathology department is committed to service excellence. For more than 25 years, St. Joseph Hospital and Orange County Pathology Medical Group, Inc. (OCPMG), have partnered to provide physicians and patients the highest level of pathology diagnostic services and support. Our pathologists have examined thousands of breast, cervical, prostate, gastric and colorectal cancers, lymphomas, melanomas and other skin cancers.
Each pathologist is triple board certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology and in one of the following subspecialties: Dermatopathology, Cytopathology, Pediatric Pathology or Hematopathology. They offer 24- to 48-hour turnaround time and 24/7 pathology coverage at St. Joseph Hospital. Consultations are provided for:
- Pigmented skin lesions
- Melanomas
- Prostate Cancers
- Breast Cancers
- Gynecology cases
- Gastrointestinal/Colorectal cases
- Bone marrows
- Fine needle aspirations
- Cytology
In addition to examining and diagnosing surgical specimens, the St. Joseph Hospital pathologists supervise laboratory technicians, oversee the Blood Bank, assure that laboratory tests are properly performed and reported, educate the Medical Staff on laboratory matters and consult with them on appropriate diagnostic tests. Pathologists here participate in more than 40 hospital meetings and conferences every month as part of their ongoing commitment to providing the highest level of anatomic and clinical pathology services in the region.
