New MRIs

Two new MRIs recently became operational at the St. Joseph Hospital Outpatient Pavilion, bringing our total number of MRIs to three. Both of the new MRIs are manufactured by Siemens. An Avanto 1.5T MRI features high-speed, high-resolution, noise-reducing technology. The new Espree 1.5T open-bore MRI can accommodate patients up to 550 pounds. It is capable of doing not only Breast Imaging but the associated biopsies.

What distinguishes an MRI from other imaging technologies is its ability to display details not seen using other techniques. What distinguishes the MRIs at St. Joseph Hospital from those found at other medical facilities are the state-of-the-art MRIs, couched in a tropical rainforest motif. Rather than a clinical, sterile-looking environment, patients in all three MRI suites "escape" to more soothing surroundings. Patients can select the music or DVD they’d like played. In the waiting area, two gaming PCs entertain younger patients, who also receive an exotic beanie baby to accompany them through their scan.

Beyond assurances of high-quality images and a friendly atmosphere, the strong capabilities of St. Joseph Hospital's highly-qualified Radiology and Imaging Team lead physicians to refer their most difficult cases to our Imaging Center. Same-day service is now available with insurance authorization.
