Patient and Family Resources

A wealth of information is available online for those who want to learn about colorectal disease prevention, detection and treatment. The following are some of the many web sites that have proven helpful for our patients and their families.

American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons: A professional organization of physicians dedicated to advancing and promoting the science and practice of the treatment of patients with diseases and disorders affecting the colon, rectum and anus.

The National Cancer Institute (NCI): The Federal Government's principal agency for cancer research and training, the NCI conducts and supports research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs with respect to the cause, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer, rehabilitation from cancer, and the continuing care of cancer patients and the families of cancer patients.

The American Cancer Society: A nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN):  An alliance of nineteen leading The Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatments, the NCCN is the leader in the development of cancer clinical guidelines.  The organization focuses on increased access to high quality cancer care, the improvement of clinical practice and patient outcomes through the collection and analysis of data, the provision of expert advice from the specialists at the member institutions, and the enhancement of the availability and viability of the clinical trials process.
