Radiation Oncologists
A radiation oncologist is a medical physician who specializes in the treatment of cancer using radiation therapy. Radiation oncologists work closely with your other physicians in treating your cancer, including oncologists, surgeons, internists and family practice physicians, among others. The radiation oncologist will determine if radiation is appropriate for you. He or she may decide to arrange additional investigations to determine the extent of your disease. Once a decision is made to offer radiation the radiation oncologist will plan and supervise your radiation treatment. Radiation oncologists are also involved in the follow-up care to determine response to treatment as well as assess potential radiation side effects. All radiation oncologists at St. Joseph Hospital are board certified with the American College of Radiology and are members of Valley Radiotherapy.
