Hyperbaric Medicine

The Hyperbaric Medicine Department offers treatments to patients whom the Hyperbaric Medicine-trained physicians have examined and concluded that they may benefit from Hyperbaric Medicine to correct tissue hypoxia. The treatments for Hyperbaric Oxygen are offered on a non-emergency basis. Hyperbaric Medicine may be useful for treating:

  • Acute Traumatic Peripheral Ischemia
  • Progressive Necrotizing Infections (Necrotizing Fascitis)
  • Acute Peripheral Arterial Insufficiency
  • Preparation and preservation of Compromised Skin Grafts (not primary management of wounds)
  • Chronic Refractory Osteomyelitis, Unresponsive to Conventional and Surgical Management
  • Osteoradionecrosis as an adjunct to conventional treatment
  • Soft Tissue Radionecrosis in addition to conventional treatment

 

        

  • Actinomycosis only as an adjunct therapy when the disease process is refractory to antibiotics and surgical intervention
  • Diabetic Wounds of the lower extremities in patients who meet the following criteria:
    • Patient has type I or type II diabetes and has a lower extremity wound that is due to diabetes
    • Patient has a wound classified as a Wagner grade III or higher; has failed an adequate course of standard wound therapy.
