All patients are admitted based on the specific criteria related to their condition and treatment. There are a variety of factors that determine when drugs can be administered in the home. Some of the factors are: availability of a caregiver in the home to assist the patient and the time of day that the drug must be given.
Pharmaceutical care is provided by our team of highly qualified and experienced home infusion pharmacists and technicians. Care is coordinated with the patient or patient’s family, physician, and home care nurse. Medications and supplies are delivered to the patient’s home by our delivery service. The number of doses of medication and supplies are based on drug stability and the potential for changes in treatment.
An IV (infusion) nurse visits the home to administer the treatment or teach the patient/family as appropriate. Depending on the treatment and the available support system, patients can frequently become independent within a short period of time. Patients are instructed in how to care for themselves, side effects of medication and what should be reported to the physician or nurse. During regular business hours, a nurse and pharmacist can be reached for consultation by calling 714-712-7110.
