Golfers Score a Hole-In-One for the Emergency Care Center: Preparing for the Future

ORANGE, CA – More than 229 golfers gathered at the Coto De Caza Golf & Racquet Club on April 7 to support St. Joseph Hospital's 29th Annual Golf Tournament, which raised an estimated $226,000 benefiting the Emergency Care Center: Preparing for the Future.

"The St. Joseph Hospital Golf Tournament was a huge success this year thanks to all of the wonderful donors, volunteers and golfers," said Joseph Conway, President of Diversified Investment Services, Inc. and Chair of the 2014 St. Joseph Hospital Golf Tournament. "The proceeds benefiting the Emergency Care Center are greatly appreciated and are being put to good use."

Proceeds from this year's golf tournament support a $3.5 million effort for the Emergency Care Center: Preparing for the Future, part of the hospital's $100 million Comprehensive Campaign – Investing In A Healthy Tomorrow. "This new concept in emergency care will help us treat more patients, more quickly yet maintain the outstanding quality of care that St. Joseph Hospital is known for," said James Pierog, MD, emergency care physician.

Plans for the Emergency Care Center include reducing the waiting room bottleneck, instituting rapid medical evaluations, aligning resources with patient demand, improved patient flow, and the exploration of best practices in emergency care. Orange County continues to depend on St. Joseph Hospital for the very best emergency care in the community. For more information about St. Joseph Hospital's Emergency Care Center, visit www.sjo.org.
