Fullerton, Calif., May 30, 2013 – Cancer survivors, friends, family and St. Joseph Hospital physicians and staff joined together at the Joshua Christopher Salon in Fullerton last month to raise funds for a cause near and dear to them – cancer rehabilitation. The sixth annual
Cut for a Cure event, held on April 28, raised nearly $3,000 for The Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange.
Stylists from the Joshua Christopher Salons in Fullerton and Newport Beach and makeup artists from Dior offered discounted hair and beauty services to more than 100 guests in attendance.
"We are so grateful for the partnership every year with the Joshua Christopher Salon to put on this great event," said Carmen Morales, Cut for a Cure chair.
The Joshua Christopher Salon and Dior will also be donating hair and makeup services for the models at the upcoming St. Joseph Hospital Circles of Life Fashion Show & Luncheon, which will be held at the Hilton Anaheim Hotel on June 9, 2013. An annual fundraising event also benefitting The Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment, the Circles of Life Fashion Show & Luncheon has raised more than $1.1 million in its history. This year, with the theme "Triumph," will highlight courageous St. Joseph Hospital cancer patients and survivors as models.
The Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment is the first of its kind in Orange County and one of only a few in the nation offering the latest in preventative care, diagnostics, treatment and clinical trials. Its cutting-edge facility and cancer programs allow specially trained physicians to perform research and discover new treatments and therapies for cancer. One of the most recent additions to The Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment is The Center for Breast Imaging and Diagnosis, which provides a full range of breast health services – from annual mammogram screenings to diagnostic services. Designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, the Center offers fully digital screening and diagnostic mammograms, dedicated breast ultrasounds and minimally invasive biopsy techniques using ultrasound and stereotactic guidance.
