Justin D. Braverman, MD, FACS, is a dedicated expert in minimally invasive bariatric surgery who moved from Chicago, Illinois in 2006 to join The N.E.W. Program. Dr. Braverman attended college at the University of Illinois, and then earned both his master’s degree in physiology and his medical doctorate from The Chicago Medical School. During his surgery training, he was a member of the Organ Transplant Team at Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s organ transplant program and was a post doctorate research fellow in organ transplantation at Northwestern. His surgical training includes a dedicated full year of fellowship training in laparoscopy and bariatric surgery.

As Director of Endoscopic Surgery at The N.E.W. Program, Dr. Braverman also specializes in Natural Orifice Surgery (surgery performed through the mouth, without incisions) for the treatment of morbid obesity. He was the first surgeon in North America to place the new ReShape Gastric Balloon, and one of the first surgeons in the country to perform the incisionless ROSE procedure. He has performed over 1,000 laparoscopic and endoscopic bariatric operations with outstanding success and one of the countries lowest complication rates. Dr. Braverman also specializes in the highly technical field of complex laparoscopic revisions for previous bariatric surgery and is involved in clinical research at The N.E.W. Program.

Dr. Braverman is a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the American Medical Association, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons.
