Accreditation

The American College of Radiology (ACR) gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed.

St. Joseph Hospital is proud to report accreditation by the ACR in the following fields:

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Accreditation

St. Joseph Hospital is accredited in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) by the ACR. MRI is a noninvasive medical test that utilizes magnetic fields to produce anatomical images of internal body parts to help physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions.

Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

St. Joseph Hospital is designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the ACR. This designation assures that St. Joseph Hospital meets standards for radiation safety and image quality. By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy).

Ultrasound Accreditation

St. Joseph Hospital is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for Ultrasound imaging. Ultrasound imaging, also known as sonography, uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal body parts to help providers diagnose illness, injury or other medical problems.

Nuclear Medicine

St. Joseph Hospital is accredited in Nuclear Medicine by the ACR. Nuclear medicine uses very small amounts of radioactive materials (radiopharmaceuticals) to diagnose and treat disease. In imaging, the radiopharmaceuticals are detected by special types of cameras that work with computers to provide very precise pictures about the area of the body being imaged.

Computed Tomography (CT)

St. Joseph Hospital is accredited in CT (Computerized Tomography) by the ACR. A computed tomography (CT) scan is an imaging method that uses x-rays to create pictures of cross-sections of the body.
