Many different risk factors may contribute to the development of cancer. In fact, doctors estimate that as many as 50-75% of cancer deaths in the United States are caused by factors that could have been avoided such as smoking and poor nutrition and exercise habits. Some risk factors, such as a family history of cancer, cannot be avoided.
The Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment is dedicated to preventing cancer. Our Cancer Genetics Program is one of the most comprehensive programs in Southern California. We also embrace clinical research by making a number of clinical trials available to our patients. These trials represent the most innovative and promising approaches today.
