Digital Skin Imaging FAQs
COMMON DIGITAL SKIN IMAGING QUESTIONS
Where does Digital Skin Imaging take place?
Does Digital Skin Imaging tell me if I have melanoma?
Digital Skin Imaging is not designed to diagnose melanoma or other skin cancers. It is used as a base line tool to help you and your doctor detect any changes in moles over time. This way, Digital Skin Imaging helps you and your doctor detect melanoma in its earliest stages, when it has the highest probability of cure.
Do I need to be fully undressed for the session?
Yes, underwear and sandals are highly recommended. For those areas that are covering moles/lesions; your garment may be moved temporarily to ensure those areas are properly captured for future reference.
How long does it take for me and my doctor to receive the photos of my session?
Please allow up to four weeks to receive a CD of your digital images via certified mail.
Can I get printed photos?
You will receive a high quality CD of your digital images via certified mail within four weeks of your session date. You may then choose to have prints made at the photo printing vendor of your choice and at your additional cost.
What if I lose my prints or CD?
We will gladly provide an additional CD to you for an additional fee.
Why do I only receive 35 images from the session when more are taken?
The majority of the photos are image captures of the same area. The best photo of the area is selected for you and your physician.
Does the photographer have special certification/training?
Yes. Our Digital Skin Imaging experts are also qualified medical assistants, certified in the mapping computer software, and have received medical photography training.
How long will the session take?
The photography secession generally takes about 40 minutes to one hour, from arrival to departure.
