Pre-Op Testing Your physician has arranged for your admission to St. Joseph Hospital. He/she will provide you details on when you should arrive at the hospital and where to report. If you are coming in for surgery, your physician will usually request that preoperative tests be performed a few days prior to your hospitalization. If you have any questions regarding the donation of blood for surgery, please contact your physician.
Some health plans require that your pre-op tests be performed at their contracted facilities. Please check with your physician to determine where your tests should be performed. If you are to have your pre-op tests (e.g.: Lab, X-ray, EKG) performed at the St. Joseph Outpatient Pavilion, it is located south of the hospital (on the south side of La Veta Ave.) in the St. Joseph Medical Plaza. Parking is available in the structure directly behind the Medical Plaza/Pavilion. The address is:
1140 West La Veta Ave., Orange, California Hours: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (No appointments necessary) When you arrive at the Outpatient Pavilion for pre-op testing, please go to the Outpatient Registration Department located on the first floor. Please be prepared to provide your insurance card(s) and information about the person who is the primary insurance carrier. Prior to your admission, if no pre-op testing is performed at the Outpatient Pavilion, you will be called by the St. Joseph Hospital Admitting Department to obtain information for your admission. If the Admitting Department is unable to reach you, you will be asked for this information when you arrive on the day of your admission. What To Bring Along with your insurance cards, bring a few personal belongings to have during your hospital stay. These items may include comfortable sleepwear, a robe, slippers, toiletries, a toothbrush, and a brush or comb. If you wear glasses or dentures, you'll need those too (please be sure to bring their protective containers). It is helpful to mark your personal belongings with your name, in case they are misplaced. While the staff will take every reasonable precaution with your personal belongings, the hospital cannot be responsible for the breakage or loss of such articles.
Please leave the following at home: Large sums of money, credit cards and jewelry. If you choose to bring any of these items, we request that they be secured in the hospital's safe. St. Joseph Hospital is not responsible for personal items, or the loss of money or other valuables retained in patient rooms.
Also be aware that medications from home could interfere with any medications or prescriptions your physician orders during your hospitalization. Leave all medications (including aspirin) at home unless otherwise instructed by your physician. Any medications prescribed for you will be supplied by the hospital pharmacy. If you have an Advance Directive, bring a copy of it with you on the day of admission. If you are unable to bring a copy, our staff can assist you in completing an Interim Directive. |
