Your gifts make a difference throughout the hospital every day. Giving to St. Joseph Hospital supports the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange to continually improve the health and quality of life for the people of Orange County.
In recent years, monies collected by St. Joseph Hospital Foundation have provided critical funding for many projects, programs, facilities and equipment benefiting St. Joseph Hospital patients and the Orange County community. Recent major initiatives include:
The Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment
Philanthropy played a key role in the development of The Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment. The Foundation raised more than $22 million in private donations toward development of the 3-story, 87,000 square foot cancer treatment facility, significantly surpassing the initial $18 million goal.
An active volunteer campaign committee, strong hospital leadership, and a compelling need for cancer services in the community all contributed to this success. Gifts to support the building campaign came from grateful patients and their families, community members, and others who have had been touched by cancer.

Patient Care Center
Individuals, employees, corporations, and foundations provided more than $20 million toward construction of the 250,000 square foot Patient Care Center.
The striking glass structure – now called Building 2 – provides 150 new acute care and intensive care patient rooms (90 percent private), 14 operating suites, a quiet Healing Garden, the CHOC Short Stay Unit and an array of advanced technological equipment, including robotic surgery. The facility also features a new Main Lobby complete with a Resource Library, Reflection Room and a special Surgery Waiting Area.
In addition to state-of-the-art clinical technology, most inpatient rooms in Building 2 are provided with flat-screen TVs, wireless Internet access and window seats that convert to beds so that visiting family members can conveniently spend the night with patients.

Perinatal Comfort Care Program - Comfort Cub
Expecting a new baby is a time filled with excitement, anticipation and hope for the future. However, for some parents, this is a time of heartbreak and profound sadness. Each year, many parents experience the devastating loss of their baby by miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death. These parents leave our hospital with empty arms and broken hearts. St. Joseph Hospital would like to give our community partners an opportunity to reach out to these families by sponsoring a Comfort Cub teddy bear. Our goal is for every mother experiencing a pregnancy loss to be given a special teddy bear to hold when leaving our hospital.
The Comfort Cub is a special weighted teddy bear designed by a bereaved mother who left the hospital with empty arms after the death of her baby. In the midst of her own grief this mom reached out to other mothers experiencing the death of a baby and designed the Comfort Cub.
With your gift of sponsorship, a Comfort Cub will be provided to a mother who has experienced the death of her baby by miscarriage, stillbirth or shortly after birth. When your gift of a Comfort Cub is given to a mother leaving St. Joseph Hospital, you will be notified that your special bear is in the arms of a loving mother.
Funds raised by the Comfort Cub program will go directly to the purchase of the bears and to the St. Joseph Perinatal Comfort Care Program.
