Light Up A Life Tree Lighting Ceremony
The annual Light Up A Life Tree Lighting Ceremony was held on Sunday, December 5, 2010. Despite the rain, more than 200 guests and friends of the hospital attended this year's event which featured holiday entertainment and refreshments. Speakers reflected on the excellent care and vital role that the St. Joseph Hospice program plays in helping families and patients with life limiting illnesses.
St. Joseph Hospice is an interdisciplinary team of highly trained professionals dedicated to providing quality end-of-life care to patients and families in the community. Hospice nurses provide expert pain and symptom management in an atmosphere of compassion and dignity; chaplains support the spiritual needs and traditions of the patient and family facing end-of-life; home health aides attend to the patient's personal needs; and volunteers provide support and respite to meet the special needs of families. Additionally, social workers address the unique psychosocial needs of each patient and their family and the medical director oversees the care of all hospice patients.
St. Joseph Hospice is part of the St. Joseph Health System and shares in the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange. The core values of Dignity, Service, Excellence, and Justice are the guiding principles for all that they do.
Contributions from Light Up A Life support the compassionate and caring work of St. Joseph Hospice. Since its inception, over $1 million has been raised from this event. Thank you to the volunteers and supporters for their commitment.
