Wachovia Dealer Services’ Irvine Regional Business Center hosted the Second Annual Peter Gorman Memorial Golf Tournament benefiting the St. Joseph Hospital Melanoma Fund on October 22. Total donations reached $39,000. It was a great golfing day highlighted by a bagpipe player who played a Scottish song and led golfers to a pond on the course. Simultaneously, all players chipped a golf ball into the pond in homage to Peter.
Peter was a respected Wachovia Dealer Services senior manager who fought Melanoma with grace and dignity until succumbing to the illness in April 2007. His widow, Laura, who organized the event once again, said, “I know these are tough times economically, but the need for Melanoma research and patient care never stops. We appreciate anything the community can do to help us support the great work of St. Joseph Hospital.”
In addition to the golf competition, activities included lunch, dinner, a reception and silent auction.
