A vital part of our Heart and Vascular Center, our leading-edge Valve Center offers the latest therapies and treatments for valve disorders, from drug therapies to the most advanced surgical techniques.

  • Structural heart disease

At the Valve Center, we work to ensure that patients are knowledgeable about treatment options and are able to choose the treatment that best suits their individual needs. This includes providing minimally invasive procedures to repair or replace valves. We offer a number of l treatments to manage valve disorders, including individualized drug regimens and interventional therapies such as:

  • TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement)
  • MitraClip (percutaneous mitral valve repair)
  • Watchman (left atrial appendage closure)
  • Melody TPV (transcatheter pulmonary valve)
  • ASD and PFO closure
  • Balloon valvuloplasty
  • Valve repair surgery

At St. Joseph Hospital, we work to provide the most advanced treatments to reduce re-admission rates and improve overall quality of life for all patients.

For instance, St. Joseph Hospital became one of the nation's first hospitals to place the Melody ® TPV in four patients who were born with a congenital heart defect. We were also the first hospital in Southern California to implant the Micra pacemaker – the world’s smallest, leadless pacemaker. Our innovative treatment options offer many benefits to patients, including shorter hospital stays and quicker recovery times.
