About Samireh Said
Dr. Samireh Said is fellowship-trained in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology for the treatment of skin cancer, and is highly skilled in early detection skin cancer. One in five Americans will develop a skin cancer; it is the most common form of cancer in the United States. Mohs Micrographic Surgery offers the highest potential cure—even if the skin cancer has been previously treated. In addition, this procedure offers the most exact and precise method of tumor removal, minimizes the chance of re-growth, and decreases the potential for scarring or disfigurement.
Raised in Orange County since the age of 10, Dr. Said says the Southern California lifestyle and its abundant sunshine puts OC residents at especially high risk for premature aging and skin cancer. But, she notes, early detection is a key factor when it comes to treatment. “The sooner you find it, the higher the cure rate and smaller the scar,” Dr. Said says. “Signs to look for during a skin exam include new or unusual-looking lesions and moles that bleed, change color, or have irregular borders. I have treated skin cancer in patients as young as 9 years old, and atypical moles in even younger kids. I am also seeing skin cancers in all skin types and in all locations.”
With an educational background from UCI and Yale, Dr. Said practiced for two years in Orange County prior to accepting a staff teaching position at UCI. Later, Dr. Said served as the Director of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at UC San Diego/VA San Diego.
Currently, Dr. Said has a successful practice in Orange County, in Tustin, where she treats patients for all skin care concerns, including pediatric dermatology, skin cancer surgery, cosmetic dermatology, sclerotherapy, skin tightening laser, peels, laser hair removal, hyperhidrosis, roscea, and acne treatments.
"I truly love what I do," says the mother of two, who is especially good at working with children. "The technological advancements in this field allow me to diagnose and treat so many common skin care concerns, with exceptional results. We have so many new treatments, including Botox for hyperhidrosis and photodynamic antioxidant creams to prevent photoaging. Whether someone is concerned about premature aging or interested in erasing deep wrinkles through injectables like Botox and Restylane, we have the tools and techniques to help them achieve the results they want."
Dr. Said has many published articles to her credit, including research findings on the topics of lasers, Botox, methotrexate, and Restylane. While Dr. Said performs a complete host of anti-aging cosmetic treatments, she says she most enjoys treating medical conditions and helping the skin heal.
“This is a very rewarding field,” she notes. “I enjoy listening to my patients and determining the best treatment plan to address their concerns. I’m also a big proponent of patient education. If I can teach someone, especially a young person, how to properly care for their skin, to avoid sun bathing and tanning beds, and to commit to annual skin exams, I know I’ve done my job well.”
