Cardiac Receiving Center

With heart events, time is of the essence. To save lives and provide patients with the best possible outcomes, St. Joseph Hospital's team of heart specialists stand ready to treat a heart attack victim in minutes.

Orange County Emergency Medical Services, the agency dedicated to appropriate and efficient response to emergencies throughout the county, has designated St. Joseph Hospital as a Cardiovascular Receiving Center.

As a receiving center, paramedics bring patients with higher-risk heart attacks (ST-elevation myocardial infarction) directly to the accredited Chest Pain Center at St. Joseph Hospital. Here, they are rapidly assessed and triaged. Depending on the patient's diagnosis and condition, he or she may have immediate angiography, angioplasty or even bypass surgery if necessary.

Cardiovascular Receiving Center designation assures you that St. Joseph Hospital has a highly skilled cardiac response team ready to treat heart attack patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
